Tragedy struck Perry High School in Iowa earlier this month when a school shooting took place, leaving the school community devastated. The heroic actions of the school’s principal, Dan Marburger, who was critically wounded while protecting students, were widely acknowledged. However, it is with deep sadness that we report his passing on Sunday, according to his family.
Principal Dan Marburger’s family announced his death on a GoFundMe page, where they expressed their grief and gratitude for his sacrifice. Marburger fought for his life for 10 days before succumbing to his injuries. The Perry community mourns the loss of a dedicated educator who gave everything to protect his students.
This tragic incident occurred on January 4th, the first day students returned from winter break. The shooting took place in the school’s cafeteria, leaving an 11-year-old middle school student dead and six others injured. The shooter, identified as a 17-year-old student, was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
