JASHORE, January 14, 2024 – In a tragic incident that unfolded in Jashore town yesterday afternoon, a two-year-old girl named Ayesha Mariam was allegedly beaten to death by her stepmother. The victim’s father, Pintu Mia, and stepmother, Parveen Khatun, have been detained by the police for interrogation.

According to Abdur Razzak, the officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, the incident took place in the Kharki-Bamanpara area of the district town. Neighbors reported that Ayesha’s father, Pintu, works as a painter and leaves home every morning for work.
On the day of the incident, Parveen reportedly beat Ayesha while Pintu was out of the house, resulting in serious injuries. As the girl lost consciousness, concerned neighbors rushed to her aid and immediately took her to Jashore General Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Pintu, who came to Jashore from Chandpur a few years ago for work, received the devastating news at around 1:00 PM. He went to the hospital and found his daughter lifeless. The police officials have stated that further action will be taken after a thorough investigation and receipt of the autopsy report.
