South San Francisco Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Three Children
A 55-year-old man from South San Francisco has been taken into custody on Thursday on suspicion of sexually abusing three children, according to the South San Francisco Police Department.

Investigation Launched After Victim Reports Abuse
The police department initiated an investigation last week after one of the victims came forward and reported the abuse. As the investigation progressed, a total of three victims were identified.
Suspect Resided in South San Francisco
The suspect, identified as Rafael Cortez-Ramirez, lived at a residence in the 500 block of 3rd Lane in South San Francisco. Additionally, it was revealed that another individual was operating an unlicensed day care at the same location.
Confidentiality Maintained to Protect Victims
In order to preserve the confidentiality of the victims, the police department refrained from providing specific details about the case. This includes information about the relationship between the suspect and the victims, as well as whether the alleged abuse occurred within the context of the unlicensed day care.
Arrest and Charges
On Thursday, law enforcement arrested Cortez-Ramirez and subsequently booked him into the San Mateo County jail. The charges against him include oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years old or younger, sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child 10 years old or younger, kidnapping to commit another crime, lewd act upon a child, and forcible lewd act upon a child. Online jail records indicate that he is currently being held without bail.

The South San Francisco Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding Rafael Cortez-Ramirez or individuals whose children attended the unlicensed day care between 2010 and 2019 to come forward. They can contact the police department at 650-877-8900.
