Man Indicted for Shooting at Woman and Infant in Dayton

A 20-year-old man from Dayton, Jayson Anthony Day-Part, has been indicted for allegedly shooting at a woman and her infant on New Year’s Day. He is facing two counts of felonious assault, both with three-year gun specifications that could result in additional sentencing if he is convicted. Day-Part is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Dayton police received a report of shots fired on January 1st in the 4400 block of Germantown Pike. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who claimed that Day-Part had shot at her and her infant. According to records from Dayton Municipal Court, the woman stated that Day-Part had previously threatened to shoot the infant because she had filed criminal charges against him for stealing a car.

The woman informed the police that she had seen Day-Part at a gas station prior to the shooting. He then followed her to her apartment and proceeded to exit his vehicle, firing shots in her direction.
