The body of former model Divya Pahuja recovered after 11 days

In a tragic incident, the body of 27-year-old former model Divya Pahuja has been recovered from a canal in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, 11 days after she was shot dead at a hotel in Gurugram. The body was identified by a tattoo on her back, providing a crucial clue to the police.

Arrests made in connection with the murder

Following the murder, the police have made significant progress in the investigation. One of the accused, Parvesh from Rohtak, was arrested for supplying a murder weapon and other illegal weapons to the prime suspect, Abhijeet Singh. The police have recovered three illegal weapons and 40 live cartridges from Abhijeet’s possession, but the murder weapon is yet to be found.

Search for the body and identification

The search for Divya’s body began after the arrest of Balraj Gill, who had fled with the body along with his associate Ravi Banga. With the help of 25 teams from NDRF and SDRF, the police conducted an extensive search from Patiala to Khanauri in Fatehabad. Divya’s family was shown a photo of the body, and they identified it to be hers due to the distinctive tattoo. The police then took possession of the body.

The motive behind the murder

According to the police, Divya was killed by Abhijeet in a fit of rage. They were in a relationship, but Abhijeet became enraged when Divya refused to delete some objectionable photos from her mobile phone. This led to a heated argument, resulting in the fatal shooting.

Details of the escape and arrests

After committing the crime, Balraj and Ravi threw Divya’s body into the Bhakra Canal near Patiala, Punjab. They then abandoned the BMW used in the murder at the Patiala bus stand. The two accused fled to Udaipur and later to Chandigarh before parting ways. Balraj was finally apprehended at Kolkata airport, while Ravi remains at large.

Additional arrests and involvement of Binder Gujjar

In connection with Divya’s murder, five individuals have been arrested, including Abhijeet Singh, Om Prakash, Hemraj, Balraj Gill, and a woman named Megha. Megha assisted Abhijeet in hiding evidence related to the crime. During questioning, Abhijeet revealed that Divya had been blackmailing him and extorting money. Divya had initially come into contact with Abhijeet through Binder Gujjar, a jailed gangster.

Background of Divya and alleged conspiracy

Divya had a controversial past, as she was the prime accused in the alleged “fake encounter” of gangster Sandeep Gadoli in Mumbai in 2016. Binder Gujjar and members of Gadoli’s family, along with Abhijeet, were believed to be involved in a conspiracy against Divya. After spending seven years in jail, Divya was granted bail last year by the Bombay High Court.

The recovery of Divya Pahuja’s body brings some closure to this tragic incident. With arrests made and significant progress in the investigation, the police are determined to bring all those involved in her murder to justice.
