In a tragic incident that has left the community in shock, a body has been discovered during the search for a missing 65-year-old woman in Norfolk. Norfolk Police confirmed that a body was found in the Little Ouse River, just south of Thetford Power Station, at 10:30am today. While the body has not been officially identified as Kim Wilde, police have informed her family of the discovery.

Kim Wilde disappeared from her home in Thetford, Norfolk on January 5, prompting an extensive search of the area. Police and emergency services, including fire and ambulance crews, were deployed to aid in the search efforts. Norfolk Police have emphasized that the death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The initial appeal by Norfolk Police described Kim Wilde as a 5ft 3 tall, white woman of proportionate build. She has dark brown short hair and was possibly wearing a grey jacket with a hood, dark grey leggings, and carrying a white handbag when she was last seen leaving her home. It is important to note that Kim walks very slowly and may appear frail. Norfolk Police are urging anyone who may have seen her to come forward with any information.

This heartbreaking news follows a series of similar incidents involving missing persons found in British rivers. In December 2023, Police Scotland confirmed the discovery of a body in the River Tay near Perth during the search for missing Clare Marshall, 64. The police stated that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Clare Marshall’s death.

Similarly, in Norwich, the search for Gaynor Lord, 55, ended tragically with the discovery of her body. Gaynor Lord had gone missing on December 8, and her clothes and personal items were found in a local park. Her body was found several hundred feet from where she is believed to have entered the River Wensum. Chief Superintendent Dave Buckley emphasized that the investigation into Gaynor Lord’s disappearance remained open-minded.

It is important to note that Norfolk Police sought advice from Lancashire Police, who handled the investigation into the disappearance of Nicola Bulley earlier this year. Nicola Bulley’s body was found in the River Wyre nearly three weeks after she went missing. A coroner concluded that she had accidentally fallen into the water and drowned.
