55-Year-Old Man killed in Hit-and-Run Incident in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA – A tragic incident unfolded early Saturday morning in North Philadelphia when a 55-year-old man lost his life in a hit-and-run accident. Brian Howard Lloyd was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of North Broad Street and Poplar Street when he was struck by a black SUV, possibly a Porsche, while in the crosswalk. The impact was so severe that Lloyd was thrown onto a third vehicle that was behind the SUV.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene, heading north on Broad Street without stopping to render aid or report the incident. Lloyd tragically died at the scene. Authorities have launched an active investigation to locate the driver responsible for this senseless act and are examining several surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the accident. They are particularly interested in finding the black SUV, which may have sustained front-end damage.

This incident comes on the heels of another shocking development in Port Richmond on Friday night. A female driver struck a man who was pumping gas, leaving him critically injured. The Philadelphia Police Department is urging anyone with information about either incident to come forward and assist with their investigations.
