Indianapolis, IN – An 18-year-old suspect has been apprehended in connection with a homicide that occurred on Friday night on the west side of Indianapolis. Zakii Dawson, 18, has been arrested and is facing preliminary murder charges, according to a press release from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

The incident took place at 2909 Landola Lane, where officers discovered an unresponsive adult female inside a residence with undisclosed trauma at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Medical personnel were immediately called to the scene, but unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead shortly after.

IMPD reported that Dawson, who is known to the victim, was detained as a person of interest and subsequently interviewed by detectives. Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that a disturbance occurred prior to the victim’s death, leading to Dawson’s arrest on murder charges.

The exact manner and cause of death will be determined by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. The identity of the deceased will be released once her family has been notified.
