The shocking incident took place in Reedley, a Central California city located approximately 25 miles southeast of Fresno. Billy Bonds, 81, and his granddaughter-in-law Guadalupe “Kiki” Bonds, 44, were discovered dead inside their home on Saturday. The Reedley police later identified Darrell Bonds, 61, and Matthew Bonds, 43, as additional victims. Matthew Bonds was married to Guadalupe Bonds.

The authorities announced the arrest of the teenage neighbor on Tuesday. The teenager appeared in court at the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus on Thursday, according to local ABC affiliate KFSN.

Prosecutors are seeking to charge the teenager as an adult, and he remains in custody. The seriousness of the crime has prompted this decision by the authorities.

Discovery of Grisly Details Surrounding the Crime

Over the course of several days, details about the grisly crime unfolded, starting on Saturday, January 6th.

On that day, Reedley police officers responded to a home following reports of a residential burglary. Upon arrival, officers discovered an empty gun safe and two deceased individuals. The authorities immediately treated the case as a homicide.

Initially, Guadalupe Bonds and Billy Bonds were identified as the victims inside the home. However, Matthew Bonds was considered a missing person at the time.

The Reedley Police Department expressed concerns for Matthew Bonds’ safety due to both the recent events at his residence and his known health issues. Efforts to locate and communicate with him were unsuccessful, leading the authorities to consider him at risk.

On January 10th, the third victim found on January 6th was publicly identified as Darrell Bonds. He was buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of the victims’ house. This identification provided a critical piece to the ongoing investigation.

Identification of the Fourth Victim and Arrest of Suspects

A fourth victim, Matthew Bonds, was discovered on January 9th in a detached garage at the suspect’s house. The authorities later confirmed that Matthew was the husband of Guadalupe Bonds and the grandson of Billy Bonds.

Investigators believe that the teenage suspect did not act alone. His mother, Brynn Curtis, 34, and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Rafael Gonzalez, have been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact. The Reedley Police Department executed warrants in three cities, resulting in the arrests and the seizure of properties, including vehicles potentially connected to the homicide investigation.

Curtis and Gonzalez were subsequently released from jail on bond and are expected to appear in court later this month.

Vigil to Honor the Memory of the Bond Family

In the wake of this tragic incident, the Reedley Police Department has announced that a vigil will be held in front of the Bonds’ home on Friday. This vigil aims to provide a solemn gathering for the community to honor the memory of the victims and offer support to their family and friends.
