Man Arrested in Connection with Shooting death of 18-Year-Old in Jackson

Sunday, January 7 at Gillman Lane in midtown Jackson

The Jackson Police Department announced today that they have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old in Jackson, Tennessee.

According to the department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Sunday at the intersection of Gillman Lane and Campbell Street around 12:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, identified as Tyrese Hardin, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite their efforts to save his life, Hardin succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Following an intensive investigation, 28-year-old Joshua Jackson-Davenport was identified as the person responsible for the shooting. He was taken into custody later that same day.

On Wednesday, Jackson-Davenport was formally charged with first-degree murder and arraigned in Jackson City Court. He is currently being held without bond.

The Jackson Police Department released the following statement regarding the incident:

“On January 7, 2024, at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Gillman Lane and Campbell Street in response to a ShotSpotter alert of four rounds fired. Upon arrival, they found Tyrese Hardin, 18 years old, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of the officers and life-saving measures, the victim tragically lost his life. After a thorough investigation, Joshua Jackson-Davenport, 28 years old, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody. On January 10, 2024, Jackson-Davenport was formally charged with First Degree Murder in Jackson City Court and is currently being held without bond.”
