Accident – Death – Obituary News : County Sheriff

A resident of state Route 154, Elkrun Township, reported at 8:55 p.m. on January 5th that his trailer had been stolen from his property. A warrant for theft has been issued by the Columbiana County Municipal Court for an Elkrun Township man.

St. Clair Township

In St. Clair Township, officers were called to a residence in the 48100 block of Moore Road on January 3rd at 6:25 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant for Joshua Burkett, aged 48 (address not provided). Burkett was apprehended and transported to the St. Clair Township Police Department.

Officers also responded to a private property crash in the 49100 block of Hickman Road on January 4th at 11:54 a.m.

Another incident occurred at Walmart on January 4th at 2:49 p.m., where an officer discovered a male attempting to break into people’s cars. The officer found stolen merchandise worth $398.96 on David Talbott, aged 33 (address not provided). Talbott has been charged with petty theft.

In another incident at Walmart on January 4th at 6:20 p.m., a female shoplifter, Brandi Hissom, aged 48 (address not provided), was apprehended. Hissom was observed scanning 237 items totaling $1,564.91 using a .50 price tag. She has been arrested and charged with theft.

On January 5th at 9:01 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the intersection of state Route 170 and East Liverpool Road for a car crash. The officer spoke to Robert Simms, whose age and address were not provided, who admitted that his license was suspended. Simms was issued a citation, and his vehicle was towed.

Another car accident occurred on January 6th at 9:15 p.m. at Calcutta Smith Ferry Road and Grimms Bridge Road, with possible injuries. The driver of the struck vehicle was identified as Mary Judy, aged 54 (address not provided). Officers were aware that Judy did not have a valid license. Judy disclosed to paramedics that she had consumed alcohol earlier in the day, and open containers were found in her vehicle. She was transported to the hospital for her injuries and subsequently issued citations for driving with no license for two or more offenses and OVI. She was also issued a summons to appear in court.

On January 8th at 9:50 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Cannon Mills Road for a registration violation. The female driver gave officers consent to search the vehicle, and the passenger, Joshua Thrasher, aged 40 (address not provided), admitted to having a syringe on him. Thrasher was placed under arrest and charged with possessing drug abuse instruments. He was given a summons to appear in court.

Another traffic stop was conducted on Y & O Road on January 8th at 1:12 p.m. for a moving violation. The officer asked the passengers for their IDs, and neither of them had one. The female passenger initially provided a false name and was later identified as Samantha Gallimore, aged 33 (address not provided). It was discovered that she had an active warrant. The male passenger, identified as Joshua Gallimore, aged 34 (address not provided), also had an active warrant. Both passengers were placed under arrest and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

East Liverpool

In East Liverpool, a school resource officer was requested on December 14th at 8:35 a.m. to transport a student from the high school to Westgate Middle School due to the student missing the bus.

An officer responded to the 800 block of St. George Street on December 14th at 5:26 p.m. for a report of a low hanging wire.

In another incident on December 14th at 8:22 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of Blakely Street for a welfare check. This was prompted by a vehicle being parked in a random driveway.

A male called on December 14th at 5:20 p.m. to report that a female who lives with him had made threats towards him.

An officer responded to a report of an unresponsive female in the 300 block of Moore St. on December 14th at 3:40 p.m. EMS was already on the scene when the officer arrived. Unfortunately, life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and no foul play was suspected. The 66-year-old female was found on the bathroom floor.

Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Sophia Street on December 14th at 5:55 p.m. for a report of a suspicious male getting in and out of a car with a flashlight.

In the 1600 block of Globe Street, officers were dispatched on December 14th at 3:25 p.m. for an unruly juvenile. The female juvenile had informed her mother that she was planning to run away.

On December 14th at 7:37 p.m., a female visited the police department to report that her daughter smelled of marijuana every time she left her father’s house.
