Subsequently, a water rescue operation was initiated and continued until authorities successfully recovered the man.

Authorities later revealed that Harwood had an active arrest warrant against him. However, it is important to note that the police were not actively pursuing him, and had no knowledge of his presence in Newbury at the time of the incident. It was only after positive identification was made on Friday morning that the police became aware of Harwood’s identity as the victim.
