Despite the allegations against him, Jackson claimed his innocence during the court appearance.

According to Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade, the incident took place on Tuesday, January 9, when Jackson allegedly shot an individual who was servicing an ATM machine on Medgar Evers Boulevard. Following the incident, he fled the scene in a maroon/red Honda Accord.

The following day, the family of Charles Sudduth, Jr. discovered his body on Del Rosa Drive. Sudduth, a 73-year-old man, was renovating a home at the time. Concerned when he did not show up for a meeting the previous night, his family contacted the authorities. Chief Wade confirmed that Sudduth had been shot multiple times.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade mentioned that the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) played a crucial role in the arrest. MHP troopers spotted a vehicle matching the description captured by surveillance cameras at both shooting locations. The vehicle was located on Kickapoo Road at County Line Road on Wednesday.

Following the discovery of the vehicle, Jackson was interviewed by the Jackson police. During the interview, he confessed to committing both crimes, according to Chief Wade.
