Reedley Police Chief Confirms 17-Year-Old Suspect Didn’t Act Alone in Quadruple Homicide Case

REEDLEY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – In a shocking revelation, Reedley Police Chief Joe Garza has confirmed that the 17-year-old responsible for the brutal murders of four individuals in Reedley did not act alone.

The 17-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended on Tuesday alongside two additional suspects: his mother, 34-year-old Brynn Curtis, and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Rafael Gonzalez. Both adults have been accused of being accessories to the homicides and have already been released on bond.

The arrests came after the discovery of three bodies in a residence on the 1100 block of South Church Avenue in Reedley on Saturday. Shockingly, another body was found in a neighboring home on Tuesday.

Following investigations, the police identified two of the victims found in the initial home as 81-year-old Billy Bonds and 44-year-old Guadalupe Bonds. Both individuals were residing in the house at the time of the incident. During a subsequent press conference on Wednesday, the third victim was identified as 61-year-old Darrell Bonds.

When authorities served a search warrant at the adjacent property on Tuesday, the 17-year-old suspect attempted to escape but was apprehended by the police. Further search of the premises led to the recovery of stolen items from the victims’ home, along with the discovery of the body of another victim, identified as 43-year-old Matthew Bonds.

As part of the ongoing investigation, three vehicles have been seized by investigators for thorough analysis. One vehicle was taken following a search warrant executed in Selma on Tuesday, while the other two were seized during a search warrant operation in Parlier on the same day.

Chief Joe Garza strongly believes that the 17-year-old suspect did not act alone and that there are other individuals involved in the gruesome crime.

“We know there are other people possibly involved in this,” Chief Garza stated. “My belief is the 17-year-old did not commit this on his own. So we are actively searching for other suspects, other people with information that may know what occurred, may have direct information on what occurred. And we will not stop our investigation until this investigation comes to a complete closure.”

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has not officially released the specific cause of death for each of the four victims. Additionally, multiple weapons were recovered from the crime scene.
