A concerned viewer of WANE 15 shared a photo showing several police cars with their lights flashing behind a parked vehicle on Muldoon Road.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, three non-students and non-staff members of Wayne High School got into a confrontation in the school’s parking lot. During the altercation, someone in the parking lot believed that one of the individuals had a gun.

The person who witnessed the alleged gun display promptly entered the school premises and alerted the administrators about the situation.

On the other hand, Demetrius Irby, 41, faces two counts of resisting law enforcement. One of the counts against Irby is also a Level 6 felony due to his alleged resistance with a vehicle.

Police revealed that at least one of the suspects had a connection to a Wayne High School student, explaining their presence in the parking lot.

A representative from Fort Wayne Community Schools informed WANE 15 that the lockdown was initiated around 3:00 p.m. and lasted until just before 4:00 p.m. Students who were still inside the building during the lockdown were safely supervised by staff members in designated rooms.
