Suspect Arrested in Fatal Orlando Car Crash Following Murder Incident

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Police Department has apprehended a man accused of murder after a car crash in Orlando over the weekend, according to official sources.

According to a press release issued by the police department, officers responded to a collision that occurred at the intersection of West Pine St. and South Westmoreland Drive on Saturday evening.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement discovered the lifeless body of Derrick Alexander, aged 36, who had succumbed to a gunshot wound, as stated in the press release.

On Wednesday, detectives announced that a suspect, identified as Montrey Hughley, aged 24, had been taken into custody in connection with the shooting incident.

Hughley now faces a charge of second-degree murder with a firearm, according to official sources.

Court records reveal that Hughley had also been apprehended on January 2 after being found in possession of a stolen firearm during a routine traffic stop.

During the previous incident, Hughley allegedly claimed that he had acquired the firearm from an anonymous individual who approached him randomly on the street.

In relation to that case, Hughley is facing a charge of third-degree grand theft. The police have not provided any information indicating a direct connection between that incident and the shooting that occurred on Saturday.

The authorities have not released any further details regarding the circumstances of the shooting incident at this time.
