Sheriff J.L. Faris of Summers County, along with Deputy Farmer and Sgt. Cochran, promptly responded to the call. Upon arrival, they spotted a vehicle matching the description provided by the homeowner. Deputy Farmer began following the suspect’s car, and to his surprise, the vehicle abruptly accelerated. Sheriff Faris, who was closely behind, noticed the suspect’s heightened speed and decided to pursue.

Sgt. Cochran, positioned further along Rt. 20, stationed his vehicle at an intersection in an attempt to intercept the suspect. As the suspect’s car approached Sgt. Cochran’s parked car, it suddenly accelerated once again, seemingly aiming to ram the squad car. In fear for his life, Sgt. Cochran fired a single AR-15 shot at the suspect’s vehicle, successfully hitting it. The shot disabled the vehicle, forcing it to come to a halt. The driver was apprehended and identified as 25-year-old Albert Ward, a resident of Ravenswood.

Upon searching the stolen vehicle, law enforcement discovered an assortment of stolen goods, including two trail cameras, various items of jewelry, knives, and approximately $300 in cash. The total value of the stolen items amounted to less than $1,000. As a result, Albert Ward currently faces charges of Petit Larceny and Fleeing with Reckless Indifference.
