In a distressing incident, a husband and wife, Shaista Banu and Mohammad Munaid, made a suicide attempt in front of the iconic Vidhana Soudha building. The couple alleged that State Minority Affairs Minister Zameer Ahmed did not support them when their house was auctioned by the bank due to their inability to repay a loan.

The desperate couple doused themselves with kerosene before being stopped by the police. They have been detained under IPC sections 309 and 290. It is heartbreaking to note that they claimed to have already repaid a substantial amount of Rs 97 lakh towards their loan. However, despite their efforts, the bank still auctioned their house, which was valued at Rs 3 crore, for a mere Rs 1.41 crore, citing an outstanding amount.

Kidnap, Ransom, and Murder: Three Arrested

In another shocking incident, the police have apprehended three individuals, namely Sanjay, Anand, and Hanumanth, on charges of kidnapping and murdering an individual on the outskirts of the city. The accused had demanded a ransom from the victim’s wife and eventually killed him. Their motive behind this heinous act was to gather funds for a New Year party.

The incident took place on December 30 when Sanjay, a mechanic at a local garage, lured the victim, Gurusiddappa, a spare parts supplier, to Ullal Road and forcefully abducted him in a car. Sanjay, being acquainted with the victim, demanded a sum of Rs 4 lakh as ransom, threatening to harm Gurusiddappa if the money was not provided.

Sanjay collaborated with his associates to execute the kidnapping plan. Under immense pressure, Gurusiddappa urged his wife to arrange the money urgently. Succumbing to the demands, she handed over the ransom to the accused in a secluded location.

However, despite promising to release Gurusiddappa on January 1, the accused took him to Manchinabele Dam near Ramanagara, where they allegedly stabbed him to death out of fear that he might involve the police if set free. The culprits then disposed of the body in the Manchinabele Forest area and fled to Goa to celebrate with the ill-gotten money. The crime came to light when Gurusiddappa’s wife reported him missing.

Illegal Activities Unveiled at Spa Outlet

A former employee of a spa has lodged a complaint, exposing the involvement of the massage center in illegal activities. The 39-year-old woman, who previously held the position of outlet manager, alleges harassment by the South Indian regional head and the Bengaluru head of the spa. She claims that she faced coercion to provide extra services to male customers, which she vehemently refused.

The complainant further alleges that she experienced continued harassment even after her refusal, and the company withheld her salary after she resigned. The FIR registered at Amruthahally Police Station includes charges under IPC sections 354 (Assaulting or using criminal force against a woman), 506 (Criminal intimidation), and other relevant sections.

Murder of Auto Driver: Ten Arrested, Including Engineering Students

The Adugodi Police have made a breakthrough in the murder case of auto driver Jai Prakash, also known as Appi. Ten individuals, including engineering students, have been apprehended in connection with the brutal killing that took place inside a hotel in Lakkasandra. The attack, fueled by an ongoing feud, occurred 15 days before the arrests were made.

Jai Prakash, aged 38, was mercilessly hacked to death on December 25. The suspects, identified as Abhishek, Dilip, Sharath, Ravikumar, Subendu, and others, come from affluent families, with some pursuing engineering studies in the city. It is believed that Jai Prakash had previous altercations with the accused. The day before his murder, members of his gang assaulted some of the accused, provoking them to retaliate.

To execute their revenge, the assailants purchased sharp weapons and relentlessly pursued Jai Prakash. The fatal encounter occurred inside a hotel where the victim sought refuge. The attackers left Jai Prakash unrecognizable after the brutal assault, prompting an intense police manhunt that ultimately led to their arrest. Ongoing interrogations aim to ascertain if additional individuals were involved in this heinous crime.
