“Grandmother and Baby Rescued from Partially Submerged Car in Watery Ditch: Heroic Body Camera Footage Released”

Florida police have released a chilling body camera footage capturing the dramatic rescue of a grandmother and her baby after their car plunged into a watery ditch in Flagler County. The incident, which took place on January 5, was met with swift action by two deputies who arrived at the scene.

Upon arriving, the deputies discovered a vehicle that had veered off the roadway and crashed into a ditch, quickly filling with water. A man was found disoriented and bleeding outside the vehicle, while the woman and her young granddaughter remained trapped inside, as reported by NBC affiliate WESH.

With the assistance of the Palm Coast Fire Department, the deputies managed to enter the vehicle, which was precariously perched “just above” the water level. Their primary objective was to rescue the victims before the situation worsened.

First and foremost, they focused on retrieving the baby, who was still secured in her car seat. The body camera footage reveals the distressing sight of the child’s head barely above the water when she was found. Thankfully, the baby remained conscious and alert throughout the ordeal.

The rescue operation continued as the deputies worked to extract the injured grandmother from the overturned vehicle. She was bleeding profusely, causing evident pain, but the firefighters provided support and reassurance throughout the process.

All three individuals involved in the accident were swiftly transported to AdventHealth-Palm Coast for medical treatment. As of now, the authorities have not disclosed their current conditions.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly commended the heroic efforts of the deputies and the fire department, emphasizing that their swift actions saved lives. He expressed gratitude for the positive outcome, which could have easily taken a tragic turn.

The investigation into the cause of the crash has been handed over to the Florida Highway Patrol. Authorities are diligently working to determine the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway and endangering the lives of the grandmother and baby.
