Driver Involved in Single-Vehicle Crash in Evendale Succumbs to Injuries

The driver who was involved in a tragic single-vehicle crash in Evendale has sadly passed away, as confirmed by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office. The deceased has been identified as William Hack, a 95-year-old individual who was behind the wheel during the incident. The crash occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 75, according to the records provided by the coroner’s office.

The authorities were alerted to the accident when the Evendale police received a dispatch call regarding an incident on I-75 South near Shepherd Lane, a little after 1 p.m. The subsequent investigation revealed that Hack had attempted to re-enter the highway through the exit ramp, resulting in a collision with a crash cushion situated at the beginning of the ramp.

Unfortunately, losing control of his vehicle due to the impact, Hack’s car was subsequently struck by multiple other vehicles traveling southbound. The Evendale police department reported that emergency responders promptly arrived at the scene and immediately transported Hack to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for urgent medical attention. Despite their efforts, Hack was later pronounced dead at the medical facility.

As a result of the crash, the affected portion of the highway had to be closed for approximately three hours to facilitate the redirecting of traffic to the Shepherd Lane exit ramp. However, after the necessary measures were undertaken and the scene was cleared, the highway was reopened, enabling the smooth flow of traffic once again.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic rules and being cautious while driving on the roads. The authorities urge all motorists to exercise vigilance and follow proper road safety protocols to prevent such unfortunate accidents from occurring.
