Investigation Launched by Oshkosh Police Department into Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – The Oshkosh Police Department has initiated a thorough investigation into a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 38-year-old pedestrian.

According to the authorities, the incident occurred on Ohio Street in the city of Oshkosh at around 6:30 p.m. Promptly after receiving an accident report, officers were dispatched to the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that a vehicle was heading southbound on Ohio Street, nearing the intersection with 3rd Avenue when it struck the pedestrian and immediately fled from the scene. Tragically, the 38-year-old victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash site.

Thanks to swift police action, the driver responsible for the hit-and-run was apprehended shortly thereafter. Furthermore, law enforcement successfully located the vehicle involved in the incident.

The Oshkosh Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team swiftly responded to the scene and is currently conducting a comprehensive investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident. As a result, the section of the roadway between Witzel and 3rd Avenue remains closed to traffic. Authorities are urging residents to avoid the area until further notice.
