Aiken County Man Charged with Pointing Shotgun at Deputies Two Years Ago

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Nearly two years later, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has brought charges against an Aiken County man for pointing a shotgun at deputies, an incident that resulted in him being shot. Cameron Convie Neil Duncan, 26, now faces two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office requested SLED to conduct an investigation as Duncan was injured by deputies during the incident. Since then, significant developments have taken place regarding the deputies involved.

The Incident

The incident unfolded on February 3, 2022, around 11:22 p.m. at a public safety checkpoint on Abear Street near Main Street in Graniteville. Deputies had stopped a white pickup truck that was reported stolen. However, when deputies approached the driver, the truck sped away.

A pursuit ensued, and the truck eventually came to a stop on Trolley Line Road near Morningside Drive. The driver, armed with a shotgun, attempted to carjack a passing motorist. When confronted by deputies, he pointed his weapon at them, prompting the deputies to fire at him. The suspect then fled the scene.

After an extensive search, Duncan was found hiding in a shed in the 3000 block of Seneca Avenue by the Aiken bloodhound tracking team. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper left chest and was taken to a Georgia hospital for treatment in stable condition.
