Tragic Incident: Driver Commits Suicide after Falling Victim to Online Fraud

A heartbreaking incident unfolded when a 45-year-old driver, employed at an LPG godown, took his own life after being deceived of a substantial sum of ₹4 lakh through an online scam. The victim, identified as Rudramuni, was associated with Sigma Gas Agency situated in Gejjagadahalli. Plagued with personal struggles, Rudramuni had been living alone as his wife had separated from him one-and-a-half years ago.

According to the authorities, Rudramuni was discovered unconscious at the premises of the gas agency. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where, sadly, he succumbed to his ordeal.

The management of the agency, following the necessary procedures, handed over a slip and Rudramuni’s mobile phone to his eldest daughter. It was through this phone that she discovered the distressing truth. Preeti R., in her complaint lodged on Wednesday, revealed that the accused, Manish Jain, hailing from Delhi, had befriended her father online. Jain had enticed Rudramuni with the promise of an Apple phone worth ₹25,000. Consequently, the grieving driver ended up transferring a staggering sum of ₹4 lakh multiple times, believing that he would receive substantial returns on his investment.

Initially, Rudramuni had high hopes for his investment, but soon realized that he had fallen prey to a deceitful scam. The police are currently investigating the origin of the funds involved in this distressing incident. They are actively tracing the accused individual based on the contact number and financial transactions associated with the case.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in the digital world. It is crucial for individuals to exercise caution while engaging in online transactions and to verify the credibility of the parties involved.
