A 22-year-old man fatally stabbed over 25 times by a group of teenagers in Southeast Delhi

A shocking incident unfolded in a Southeast Delhi locality in the national capital, where a 22-year-old man, identified as Gaurav, was brutally stabbed over 25 times and later dragged onto the road until he succumbed to his injuries. The incident took place on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, leaving the community in shock and grief.

All five accused involved in the heinous crime have been taken into custody by the authorities. Gaurav, who supported his family by taking up various odd jobs, had recently been involved in minor disputes with a group of local boys. The tensions escalated, and on Monday-Tuesday, a physical altercation occurred between Gaurav and the boys. Following the altercation, Gaurav allegedly scolded and hit the boys, further intensifying the animosity between them, as reported by The Indian Express.

The timely intervention of alert patrolling policemen played a crucial role in apprehending the culprits. The patrolling officers caught the assailants in the act, prompting the juveniles to attempt an escape. After a 2-kilometer chase, three of the accused were successfully apprehended. Unfortunately, during this time, Gaurav’s injuries proved fatal, leading to his untimely demise.

According to the authorities, the motive behind the attack was an attempt to settle personal scores. DCP (Southeast) Rajesh Deo revealed that two head constables patrolling the area witnessed the assailants dragging the severely injured Gaurav. “He was badly injured and unconscious… The boys saw the police team and ran towards the NTPC (station). The team acted promptly and chased them. Three of them were caught… However, Gaurav had already succumbed to his injuries,” stated Deo.

A video from the scene captured three boys running near the NTPC station, with a determined police officer in pursuit. The officer managed to apprehend one of the boys successfully. The involvement of the area’s Station House Officer and other personnel played a crucial role in capturing the remaining teenagers.

During the interrogation, the trio admitted to their confrontation with Gaurav and their desire for revenge. They confessed to stabbing him multiple times. Further investigations led to the arrest of two associates who aided the assailants in the crime. The authorities also recovered a blood-stained weapon used in the heinous act from the possession of the accused. Subsequently, Gaurav’s body was sent to the AIIMS mortuary for post-mortem examination.
