Suspect Arrested in Deadly Shooting at Citadel Mall

Colorado Springs Police Department Apprehends Josiah Brown on Multiple Charges

COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has announced the arrest of Josiah Brown, a 22-year-old suspect involved in a tragic shooting incident at the Citadel Mall on Christmas Eve. The arrest comes after intensive investigations by law enforcement officials, who identified Brown as the prime suspect in the case. A warrant was subsequently issued for Brown’s arrest on Tuesday, January 9.

Josiah Brown was charged with multiple offenses, including First Degree Murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Teryus Thomas. Additionally, he faces two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and two counts of First Degree Assault. These charges stem from a violent altercation that took place between two groups of individuals at the Citadel Mall on Christmas Eve, shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Tragedy struck when the altercation turned deadly, resulting in the fatal shooting of Teryus Thomas. Upon receiving reports of shots fired, the CSPD swiftly responded to the scene at the Citadel Mall. Upon arrival, they discovered three individuals who had been injured by gunfire, including Thomas, who tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

On Wednesday, January 10, law enforcement agencies, including the Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, Tactical Enforcement Unit, and K9 Unit, successfully apprehended Josiah Brown without incident. Authorities executed the arrest warrant issued against him.
