Two Arrested for Shooting Dead a Friend in Kalyan
Kalyan – In a shocking incident, two youths were apprehended while two others are still on the run after one of them fired a fatal bullet, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old man in Kalyan on Monday night. Titwala police have confirmed the details of the incident.

Shocking Crime Scene
The unfortunate incident occurred at Maharal village in Kalyan, under the jurisdiction of the Titwala police station, at approximately 11:30 pm. The victim, identified as Rajan alias Raju Yerkar, had accompanied the four accused to a liquor party in Maharal village when the shooting took place.
According to the police, during the course of the liquor party, an altercation broke out between Yerkar and one of the accused, who was under the influence of alcohol. The situation escalated quickly, and in a fit of rage, Rohit Bhalekar, one of the arrested individuals, retrieved a country-made revolver from Parvej Shaikh’s possession. Bhalekar then fired a fatal shot, hitting Yerkar in the chest, ultimately leading to his untimely demise. The accused fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Local residents, upon hearing the sound of the gunshot, rushed to the spot and discovered Yerkar unconscious and bleeding profusely. They quickly summoned help and transported him, accompanied by Samir Chavhan and Bhalekar, to Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar. Unfortunately, Yerkar was declared dead on arrival.
Jitendra Thakur, Senior Police Inspector, shared, “Upon investigation, the arrested accused claimed that a group of 20 to 25 people had attacked and fired at Rajan Yerkar, while they managed to escape. However, during our inquiries, we found inconsistencies in their statements. The truth eventually emerged, revealing that Bhalekar had shot Yerkar due to trivial issues arising from their intoxicated state. We have formed four teams to apprehend the absconding accused. Additionally, it was discovered that Yerkar had a prior criminal record related to illegal possession of firearms.”
Following the incident, the police have registered a case against the accused under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

The authorities are working diligently to bring the absconding accused to justice and ensure that the victim’s family receives the necessary support during this difficult time.
