Oakland Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision near Uptown Oakland

OAKLAND — A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday, just before 1 p.m., when a hit-and-run collision claimed the life of a woman near uptown Oakland. The Oakland Police Department reported that the incident occurred on San Pablo Avenue, in the vicinity of the 2300 block.

A 59-year-old resident of Oakland was crossing the street when an unidentified vehicle struck her and callously fled the scene. Tragically, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Wednesday morning, her identity had not been released to the public.

No description of the vehicle or the driver involved in the hit-and-run has been made available by the authorities. According to the police, the driver was last seen heading northbound on San Pablo Avenue.

While investigations are still underway, the preliminary findings suggest that speed may have played a role in the collision. However, it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.

In an effort to bring justice to the victim and her grieving family, the Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Oakland have jointly announced a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the driver responsible for this heinous act.
