Accident – Death – Obituary News : Former Mr. Bungle Band Member Arrested for Alleged Murder of Girlfriend in California

Theobald “Theo” Lengyel, a former member of the renowned rock band Mr. Bungle, has been taken into custody on homicide charges in California. The arrest comes after his girlfriend, Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann, mysteriously disappeared several weeks ago. The Capitola Police Department has accused the 54-year-old musician of killing Herrmann.

Lengyel, also known as “Mylo Stone,” had previously been identified by the police as a person of interest in the investigation into Herrmann’s disappearance. The authorities intensified their focus on him when human remains were discovered in Berkeley’s Tilden Regional Park on January 2. Following this discovery, Lengyel was promptly arrested in Santa Cruz County.

Authorities are awaiting DNA confirmation from the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office to establish the identity of the human remains. Herrmann, aged 61, was last seen alive in Santa Cruz, California, on December 3, 2023. Her relatives reported her missing to the police after she failed to board a flight to Hawaii on December 12, 2023.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Lengyel’s red Toyota Highlander SUV was parked outside Herrmann’s residence in El Cerrito. Moreover, he refused to cooperate with the police and provide any assistance in locating his missing girlfriend, as confirmed by the El Cerrito Police Department.

In their efforts to uncover the truth, investigators from the Capitola and El Cerrito police departments delved into the couple’s activities and whereabouts leading up to Herrmann’s disappearance.

“As the investigation progressed, it became clear that foul play was involved,” stated the Capitola Police in a recent statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.” The police have not released any information regarding the motive behind the alleged killing.

Lengyel was apprehended on Tuesday morning and is currently being held at the Santa Cruz County jail. He faces one count of first-degree murder, and no bail has been set. Records indicate that the case will be transferred to the Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of criminal charges against the defendant.

Before this tragic incident, Lengyel played the saxophone for Mr. Bungle, an experimental rock band based in Eureka, California. Although he contributed to the band’s first two studio albums released in 1991 and 1995, Lengyel departed from the group shortly after due to creative differences, as revealed in a 2005 interview with Trevor Dunn.

With this latest development, the music industry and Mr. Bungle fans are left in shock and disbelief as they grapple with the disturbing allegations against a former band member. The case serves as a poignant reminder of the potential darkness that can lurk behind the glitz and glamour of the entertainment world..
