A woman has been taken into custody in San Rafael after allegedly stabbing her mother to death in an apartment complex. The incident unfolded while the suspect was livestreaming the act on Facebook Live, shocking viewers.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Tonantzyn Oris Beltran, was apprehended by the police on Monday. Officers discovered her in an apartment at the Terra Linda complex, where she was found with her 55-year-old mother, who had sustained multiple stab wounds.

According to the authorities, when the police arrived, Beltran was standing on a balcony, holding a knife. She appeared unresponsive to the officers’ commands and directions, making the arrest challenging.

Law enforcement was alerted to the crime scene by both witnesses and individuals who had witnessed the stabbing through a Facebook Live video. After collaborating with the San Rafael detectives, Facebook’s parent company, Meta, promptly removed the video.

The victim, Beltran’s mother, was immediately rushed to the hospital. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away during treatment.

The motive behind Beltran’s alleged actions remains unclear, and investigators are diligently working to establish it. Additionally, authorities are examining other content that Beltran purportedly shared on social media platforms. One such video, created by Beltran, shows her presence at the Santa Rosa Police Department lobby on January 8th. The Santa Rosa Police Department is collaborating with the ongoing investigation and reviewing the events surrounding the incident.
