San Rafael Woman Arrested for Allegedly Fatally Stabbing Mother, Broadcasting Act on Social Media

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — A woman from San Rafael has been taken into custody after allegedly fatally stabbing her mother on Monday afternoon. Shockingly, the incident was filmed by the suspect and broadcasted live on social media, according to the San Rafael Police Department.

The authorities responded to multiple reports of a physical fight and stabbing at an apartment complex on Cresta Way. Upon arrival, the officers were directed to the rear balcony of an apartment where they witnessed Tonantzyn Oris Beltran, a 28-year-old woman, holding a knife and standing next to a female victim who had been stabbed. The victim’s clothes were soaked in blood, confirming the severity of the attack.

Despite the officers’ commands, Beltran did not immediately respond. While some officers confronted her from the balcony, another team forced their way into the apartment and apprehended her.

Emergency responders provided first aid to the victim before transporting her to a hospital. Tragically, she succumbed to her extensive injuries, leading to her death, as confirmed by the police.

The victim, identified as Beltran’s 55-year-old mother, has raised questions regarding the possible motive behind the attack. Investigators are diligently working to establish the reasons behind this tragic event.

During the course of the investigation, the San Rafael Police discovered that Beltran had filmed the stabbing and broadcasted it live on Facebook. Authorities swiftly contacted Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to remove the disturbing footage, which they successfully did. Initial reports of the incident came from witnesses who had seen the video on Facebook.

The police have also learned that Beltran has been active on various social media platforms, even filming herself at the Santa Rosa Police Department’s lobby on the same day. Both police departments are collaborating to gain a comprehensive understanding of the events leading up to the incident.
