Portland Police Identify Officers Involved in Fatal Shooting near Mall 205
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Police Bureau has released the names of the three officers responsible for the fatal shooting of a robbery suspect near Mall 205 last month.

Officer Identification
The officers involved in the incident have been identified as John Barlett, Adi Ramic, and Brian Wheeler. Following the shooting on December 27, the officers were placed on standard administrative leave pending further investigation.
Victim’s Identity
The suspect who was shot and killed by the officers has been identified as 33-year-old Tyrone Lee Johnson II.
Internal Review Process
The Portland Police Bureau will conduct an internal review of the entire incident, including the initial response, resources requested, tactics used, and post-shooting actions. This review process is part of the Bureau’s use of force review process. The case will also be presented before the Police Review Board (PRB), which consists of community members, Bureau members, and representatives from the Independent Police Review Division.
Incident Details
On the day of the incident, officers responded to a report of a robbery at a large department store located in Mall 205. The report indicated that the suspect, who was involved in a previous robbery, was attempting to steal merchandise. After observing the suspect, later identified as Johnson II, leaving the store, the officers attempted to apprehend him in the parking lot. However, the suspect fled towards the west side of the mall.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, a confrontation ensued, and shots were fired by the officers. However, specific details regarding the nature of the confrontation have not been disclosed.
Surveillance Footage
Surveillance footage captured moments leading up to the incident. The footage shows Johnson II running away from the officers shortly after allegedly robbing a Target store. He can be seen carrying stolen items and wearing headphones.
