A tragic incident unfolded in Farmington, Michigan, as a 35-year-old suspect attempted to escape authorities by driving a stolen pickup truck, resulting in a fatal wrong-way crash that claimed the lives of a Michigan couple. Ryan Ambrosio, 45, and Jennifer Dormitorio Ambrosio, 43, were identified as the victims by FOX 2 Detroit and The Detroit News. The couple leaves behind six children, aged 2 to 9.

The harrowing incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday when the suspect, driving a stolen 2006 Ford Super Duty pickup truck, collided with the Ambrosios’ vehicle.

The Michigan State Police reported that the suspect initially caught the attention of authorities when the stolen truck was discovered in a gas station on Eight Mile Road. The suspect nearly hit a patrol car while attempting to flee, prompting the troopers to initiate a traffic stop. However, the suspect evaded capture and began driving against the flow of traffic, with the vehicle’s headlights turned off.

The fatal crash took place on northbound M-10 when the suspect’s truck, still without headlights, collided head-on with a 2011 GMC Terrain near Civic Center Drive. Unfortunately, Ryan and Jennifer Ambrosio, who were traveling in the GMC Terrain, succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect and his passenger, a 29-year-old woman from Detroit, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Both individuals are currently hospitalized and expected to survive.

The Michigan State Police’s First District Investigative Response Team, along with the crash reconstruction section, is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. As a result, the freeway remained closed for over 11 hours. The findings of the investigation will be forwarded to the Oakland County Prosecutor for review.

This heartbreaking incident has left the Ambrosio family, their friends, church, and community devastated. To support the six young children left behind – Amelia, Maria Grace, Faustina, Benedict, Raphael, and Julian – a GoFundMe campaign has been created. The campaign aims to ensure that the children are raised together in a safe and loving home.
