Cloquet Police Identify Victims and Shooter in Super 8 Hotel Shooting

CLOQUET, MN. (Northern News Now) – The Cloquet Police Department has released the identities of the victims and the shooter involved in Monday’s tragic shooting incident at the Super 8 hotel.

Authorities have identified the shooter as Nicholas Elliot Lenius, a 32-year-old resident of Ramsey, MN.

Lenius was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the Super 8 hotel.

The victim who tragically lost her life during the incident is Shellby Marie Trettel, a 22-year-old resident of Cloquet, MN.

Trettel was immediately transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries.

Additionally, authorities have identified the victim found inside a vehicle in the hotel’s parking lot as Patrick Jeffrey Roers, a 35-year-old resident of Deer River, MN.

The investigation is ongoing, as authorities are trying to determine if there is any connection between the victims and the shooter, as well as uncovering a possible motive for the shooting.

Details of the Cloquet Super 8 Hotel Shooting Incident

Cloquet, Minnesota – The Cloquet Police Department has provided further details regarding Monday’s fatal shooting incident at the Super 8 hotel. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning.

The shooter has been identified as Nicholas Elliot Lenius, a 32-year-old resident of Ramsey, Minnesota. Lenius was found deceased inside the Super 8 hotel room, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Tragically, one of the victims was the hotel clerk, Shellby Marie Trettel, a 22-year-old resident of Cloquet, Minnesota. Trettel was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance but, despite the efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries.

Another victim, identified as Patrick Jeffrey Roers, was discovered inside a vehicle parked in the hotel’s parking lot. Roers, 35 years old and from Deer River, Minnesota, was pronounced dead at the scene.
