The FHP revealed that four out of the five injured victims were traveling in a 2016 Honda Odyssey van at the time of the accident.

According to the FHP, the Odyssey was headed east on State Road 46, just east of Pitbull Lane, around 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon when it unexpectedly veered into the westbound lane. The van collided with a 2014 Lincoln MKX Sport Utility Vehicle in an unfortunate turn of events. The left front of the Odyssey struck the left front of the Lincoln MKX, causing the latter vehicle to run off the road to the right. The MKX then collided with a traffic sign and overturned into a drainage ditch before coming to rest upside down and partially submerged.

Tragically, the driver of the Lincoln MKX, identified as a 68-year-old individual from Wellsboro, PA, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Odyssey, a 40-year-old woman from Merritt Island, sustained serious injuries. Additionally, three female passengers from Titusville, aged 47, 45, and 20, also suffered severe injuries. All four individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, according to the FHP press release.

One more passenger, a 40-year-old woman from Titusville, sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash to determine the exact cause of the tragedy.
