Family and Friends Identify 19-Year-Old Seth Gott as Victim of Brutal Machete Attack near Auditorium Shores

Family members and friends have come forward to identify 19-year-old Seth Gott as the young man who suffered serious injuries in a horrifying random machete attack on Tuesday. The incident took place near Auditorium Shores, leaving Gott with severe wounds.

According to friends, Gott is known for his kind-hearted nature, hard work ethic, and strong advocacy for social movements. A former coworker has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for Gott’s medical expenses.

Jose Ortiz-Vitali, the creator of the fundraising campaign, revealed that Gott recently moved to Austin from Louisiana and is currently studying biology at Austin Community College. The GoFundMe post stated that the attack on Gott was completely random and unprovoked.

According to Ortiz-Vitali, Gott sustained serious injuries to his head, arms, and lower body. He is currently undergoing surgery to address these wounds.

The Austin Police Department announced on Wednesday that they have arrested 24-year-old Ashton Kaine Talley in connection with the attack. Talley is facing two counts of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, along with a misdemeanor charge of evading arrest. At present, no bond amount has been set for Talley.

Although the police did not disclose Gott’s name in their release, they confirmed that the victim is in stable condition. The department follows a policy of not releasing crime victims’ names unless they have passed away.

Austin-Travis County EMS reported that they transported an individual with life-threatening injuries to the hospital on Tuesday after responding to a stabbing incident in the 900 block of West Riverside Drive.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the GoFundMe campaign has managed to raise $2,245 out of its $10,000 goal. Ortiz-Vitali directed further questions to Gott’s family members and mentioned that Gott is in good spirits.

Dusty Colquitt, Gott’s mother, shared that she and Gott’s sister are traveling from North Dakota to visit him. Additionally, friends and family are currently providing support. Colquitt mentioned that her son, who is passionate about playing the guitar and maintaining fitness, will undergo surgery on his severely injured hand.

In a poignant text message, Colquitt requested prayers, intentions, spells, and meditations for her child and their family. She also expressed gratitude towards the first responders, Dell Hospital, and other innocent individuals at the park who were affected by the tragic events. Colquitt extended her hope that the perpetrator receives the necessary help to address their issues.
