Recently, two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with an alleged drive-by shooting that occurred in Yuba City. However, law enforcement authorities are actively searching for a third suspect who remains at large.

The Yuba City Police Department issued a press release stating that the department’s B-Graves Shift promptly responded to an incident in the 1700 block of Magnolia Drive on the night of Friday, January 5. The incident involved a drive-by shooting, resulting in one person sustaining shrapnel injuries. Fortunately, no other casualties were reported, according to the police.

Following the shooting, an officer reportedly observed the suspect vehicle traveling westbound on Bogue Road. Taking immediate action, the officer initiated a pursuit of the vehicle. The chase continued through various surface streets until it culminated in a collision near Harding Road and Cherry Street. Subsequently, three occupants fled the vehicle on foot. In an effort to apprehend one of the suspects, K9 Officer Rip was deployed, while another suspect surrendered without resistance.

In collaboration with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement established a perimeter and conducted extensive yard-to-yard searches with the aid of K9 Officer Rip and a drone provided by the Sheriff’s Office. However, the third suspect managed to evade capture, as stated by the police.

The driver of the suspect vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Israel Morales, has been arrested and subsequently booked into the Sutter County jail. He faces charges of attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and felony evading.

Additionally, a 16-year-old juvenile, believed to be the second suspect, has been booked into Tri-Counties Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder and shooting at an inhabited dwelling.

The incident involving the drive-by shooting in Yuba City, which led to the arrest of two individuals, including the driver, Israel Morales, and a juvenile suspect, continues to be an ongoing investigation. Authorities are actively seeking the third suspect who remains at large. The Yuba City Police Department urges anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the third suspect to come forward and assist in the investigation.
