Police Recover Stolen Jewelry Worth Over $135,000 in Stratford Store Robbery

Law enforcement authorities have successfully retrieved stolen jewelry valued at more than $135,000 from a jewelry store in Stratford. In addition, two of the four suspects believed to be responsible for the robbery have been apprehended.

Stratford Police Service (SPS) announced on Tuesday that their counterparts in the Niagara Region had arrested two individuals who were initially wanted for an unrelated incident. However, further investigation revealed that these two individuals were the wanted suspects in the brazen smash-and-grab robbery that occurred at Paris Jewellers on January 3.

According to the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), their officers noticed two “suspicious” men in the vicinity of Stanley Avenue and Ferry Street on January 4. These individuals were observed getting into a vehicle with license plates that had been reported stolen. Consequently, the police took them into custody. Upon closer inspection, the arrested men were found in possession of stolen jewelry as well as a loaded 9mm Luger handgun. The two individuals have been identified as 21-year-old Josh Delaney and 21-year-old Donavin Stewart, both of whom have no fixed address.

Delaney and Stewart now face seven charges, including two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a prohibited firearm without a license. The NRPS has stated that their detectives are collaborating with other police services to continue the investigation, with the possibility of additional charges being laid.

In a separate press release, the SPS confirmed that the two arrested individuals were indeed involved in the robbery at the Stratford Mall jewelry store. Four unidentified men had stormed into Paris Jewellers, smashing display cases and swiftly making off with a significant amount of jewelry in less than a minute. The entire incident was captured on video.

Stratford police have stressed that there is still a portion of the stolen jewelry that has not been recovered. As a result, they are actively searching for the remaining two suspects, who have yet to be identified.
