The incident occurred in Mharal village, located in the rural vicinity of Suryanagar in Kalyan. Rajan Yerkar and his friends, Samir Chavan, Rohit Bhalekar, Parvez Sheikh, and Sunil Waghmare, had gathered for a drinking session. Verbal abuses and fisticuffs broke out among the group, intensifying the tension. Shockingly, one of the friends suddenly brandished a country-made pistol and fired at Rajan Yerkar from point-blank range, causing severe injuries. Despite the desperate attempt to rush him to a nearby hospital, the young boy was declared dead on arrival.

After receiving a tip-off, the Kalyan Taluka police swiftly took action and apprehended Rohit Bhalekar and Samir Chavan.
