Tragic Incident on Scottsville Road Leaves One Child Dead and Another Injured

A tragic incident occurred over the weekend on Scottsville Road, resulting in the death of one child and leaving another injured. The Bowling Green Police were called to the scene at the intersection of Scottsville Road and Cypress Wood Lane.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered two vehicles involved in the collision. One vehicle had been struck from behind, while the other was found resting against a utility pole.

The vehicle on the road had three occupants, including the driver, who luckily escaped uninjured. However, a 5-year-old child suffered multiple injuries, and a 2-year-old child was found unresponsive.
Immediate efforts were made by bystanders who initiated CPR on the unresponsive 2-year-old. Both children were then rushed to a hospital in Nashville for further medical attention.
The driver of the second vehicle involved in the collision was identified as 32-year-old Jorge Lopez Iturbide. He also sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital in Bowling Green.
Sadly, on Monday evening, the 2-year-old child succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision. The condition of the 5-year-old remains uncertain at this time.
Jorge Lopez Iturbide, once released from the hospital, will be taken into custody by the Bowling Green Police Department and subsequently transferred to the Warren County Regional Jail.
Iturbide now faces multiple charges, including murder, first-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree wanton endangerment, driving without an operator’s license, and operating a vehicle under the influence.
This tragic incident has left the community in mourning and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving. The Bowling Green Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
