Thai Man Confesses to Shocking Murder of Father and Sister

An unhinged Thai man has admitted to the gruesome murder of his father and older sister, devising a chilling plan that involved convincing them to enter metal boxes, locking them inside, and ultimately dumping them into a pond in the Isaan province of Sakon Nakhon.

The shocking incident was brought to light when locals in the Phang Khon district of Sakon Nakhon discovered two suspicious metal boxes in Nong Lum Hin pond at 12.40am on January 9. Alarmed by their findings, they immediately reported the discovery to the local authorities and a rescue team.

The rescue team successfully retrieved the locked boxes from the pond and made a horrifying discovery. Inside the boxes were the lifeless bodies of a 33-year-old woman named Piangpen Datephumee and her 68-year-old father named Prayat Datephumee.

According to the initial autopsy report, Piangpen and Prayat were still alive when they were thrown into the water. Their cause of death was determined to be lack of oxygen, a result of being trapped inside the boxes.

Local witnesses revealed that they had noticed a suspicious SUV parked near the pond on the evening of January 8. Some residents in the vicinity also reported hearing the sounds of people arguing during the night before the boxes were discovered.

Based on information provided by the locals, the authorities were able to apprehend the prime suspect, a 35-year-old Thai man named Warut Datephumee. Warut is the younger brother of Piangpen and the son of Prayat.

The Murderer’s Disturbing Confession

Initially, Warut denied any involvement in the deaths, providing the police with confusing statements. As a result, he underwent a psychiatric evaluation, which revealed no abnormalities, and he was found to be drug-free. However, it was discovered that Warut had a history of neurodevelopmental disorders, although further details were not disclosed by the authorities.

After a prolonged interrogation, Warut finally confessed to the premeditated murder of his father and sister. He revealed that they had constantly complained about his actions, which fueled his rage. With meticulous planning, he enticed them to accompany him before executing his sinister plan.

According to reports, Warut had ordered two metal boxes from a local factory, claiming they were intended for his YouTube videos. He lured his father and sister into the boxes by convincing them that they were innovative bed prototypes he had invented.

Once they were inside the boxes, Warut locked them in, transported them to the pond, and callously dumped them into the water.

Following his confession, Warut now faces severe legal consequences. Under Section 288 of the Criminal Law, intentional murder carries a penalty of either death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for 15 to 20 years.
