Dawson Creek Murder Victim Identified as Rob Girbav

DAWSON CREEK – Multiple sources have confirmed to CJDC TV News that the man who was brutally murdered in Dawson Creek on December 31st has been identified as Rob Girbav.

Girbav, known for his extensive criminal history which includes charges of assault and theft over $5000, has raised questions about his potential involvement in the ongoing turf war in the Peace Region. The turf war has seen organized crime elements from the Lower Mainland of British Columbia infiltrating the area.

The incident unfolded when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of 17th Street and 116th Avenue on December 31st.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement discovered a red Dodge Caliber and the lifeless body of Rob Girbav.

The RCMP North District Major Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation into this appalling murder.

Public Assistance Sought in Identifying Suspect Vehicle

Investigators are appealing to the public for any information regarding a pickup truck that may be linked to the murder. The RCMP believes that this vehicle may have been seen in the vicinity of 17th Street and 116th Avenue, as well as on the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek.

The suspect vehicle, a red Dodge Caliber, was reportedly accompanied by a red Dodge Ram 1500 pickup with gold trim along the lower portion of the vehicle. The RCMP is particularly interested in obtaining surveillance videos or dash cam footage that captured these vehicles during the morning hours of December 31st, between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
