Man Arrested for Shooting at Fire Marshal and Police Officer in Barbour County

A 49-year-old resident of Eufaula, Patrick Lashone Brooks, has been taken into custody without bail after allegedly firing shots towards a fire marshal and a police officer in Barbour County. The incident occurred on Sunday, January 7, prompting an investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), as requested by the Eufaula Police Department.

According to Sergeant Jeremy J. Burkett of ALEA, the officer-involved shooting took place during a patrol in west Barbour County, near U.S. 431. The law enforcement officers were responding to an ongoing situation when Brooks discharged a firearm towards them, causing damage to their respective vehicles.

The suspect, identified as Patrick Lashone Brooks, was promptly apprehended and has been charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and attempted murder. He is currently being held in the Barbour County Jail without the possibility of bond. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident involving the fire marshal and police officer.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, with Special Agents from ALEA’s SBI leading the efforts. Once the investigation is complete, all findings will be handed over to the Barbour County District Attorney’s Office for further action.
