Shoplifting Charge at Walmart

On December 21, Sergeant Samuel Masters responded to a shoplifting incident at Walmart. Upon inspection, Sergeant Masters discovered pills identified as Norco and gabapentin. Additionally, the woman had outstanding warrants from Banks and Habersham counties.

Hit and Run Incident

Deputies investigated a hit and run crash on Experiment Station Road on December 28. A 47-year-old woman from Athens reported that while driving near Butler’s Crossing, her vehicle was struck by another vehicle, causing her car to spin off the roadway. A 20-year-old witness stated that the offending vehicle was a blue SUV, possibly a Porsche, which fled the scene and was last seen turning onto Loch Lammond Circle. Despite efforts, the driver responsible for the accident could not be located.

Pepper Spray Attack

A domestic dispute unfolded in Bogart on December 22, leading to a pepper spray attack. A 27-year-old woman reported that her 21-year-old neighbor sprayed her face with pepper spray. The victim was found in distress, experiencing intense pain and crying. The suspect claimed to have witnessed an argument between the victim and another woman, prompting her to use pepper spray. The suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, was charged with aggravated battery.

Windshield Cleaner Scam

Deputy Lex Ogan was alerted to a suspicious activity near Walmart on December 23. A woman reported that a man was approaching single women and offering to wash their windshields in exchange for money. Deputy Ogan located the man and discovered that he was wanted in Athens for failing to appear in court. The 31-year-old Athens man was arrested and banned from Walmart.

Home Burglary

On December 24, Deputy Johnny Richards responded to a home burglary on Treadwell Bridge Road. A 61-year-old woman returned home after two days to find that her residence had been broken into. However, the occupants of the residence claimed no knowledge of the burglary.

Use of Counterfeit Money
