Tragic Head-on Collision Claims the Life of Mary Leechelle Love in Garlock
GARLOCK, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the victim involved in a devastating head-on collision that occurred near Garlock on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Mary Leechelle Love, a resident of Ridgecrest. She was behind the wheel of a vehicle that collided head-on with another vehicle on Redrock Randsburg Road, just west of Garlock Road, at approximately 8:35 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a white Mercedes was heading westbound on Redrock Randsburg Road at the time of the accident. Love, driving a white Hyundai, was traveling eastbound with one passenger. The two vehicles collided with a devastating impact.
Unfortunately, Love succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the passenger in the Hyundai and the driver of the Mercedes sustained major injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to reports from both KCSO and CHP.
CHP has stated that driver impairment is not suspected as a contributing factor to this tragic collision. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is ongoing.
As a result of the crash, Redrock Randsburg Road had to be temporarily closed at both Highway 14 and Garlock Road and Highway 395.
