St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) – A man serving time at Stillwater State Prison has confessed to the distribution of methamphetamine within the facility.

The US Attorney For Minnesota has announced that Axel Kramer, a 36-year-old inmate, has entered a guilty plea to a federal charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Court documents reveal that Kramer admitted to collaborating with a former correctional officer, Faith Gratz, aged 26, to distribute drugs within the high-security prison. Gratz had previously pleaded guilty to the same charge.

According to federal prosecutors, Kramer was able to obtain significant quantities of methamphetamine from external sources, with Gratz responsible for picking up the drug packages. Utilizing her position as a guard, Gratz smuggled the methamphetamine into the prison and handed the packages to Kramer.

The charges state that Gratz brought in multiple shipments of methamphetamine to the prison on six different occasions. Additionally, she smuggled numerous cell phones into the facility, which Kramer used to contact his suppliers and other individuals involved in the distribution network.
The evidence against both individuals includes hundreds of text messages exchanged between Kramer and Gratz. Federal prosecutors assert that these messages contain communications related to their criminal conspiracy as well as their romantic relationship.
Kramer is currently serving a 288-month prison sentence for a second-degree murder conviction.
