In his statement, Bryant explained, “I had scheduled airline flights for a crucial out-of-state witness. Additionally, two other witnesses had been subpoenaed to testify in my case—one in St. Louis and another in Kansas City—during the same period. Unfortunately, the closure of the Ralls County Courthouse disrupted the logistics and scheduling of these witnesses.”

Bryant further noted, “Other issues arose that were critical to a successful prosecution of the accused, which I’m not at liberty to discuss. Combined, these issues significantly weakened the state’s case, and the defense expressed their desire to proceed to trial.”
