WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic auto-pedestrian crash that occurred on Monday evening. The incident took place at SH 107, just west of North Sharp Road, in Edinburg, as reported by a recent news release from DPS.

Initial Findings
According to the preliminary investigation, the unfortunate incident occurred at approximately 9:52 p.m. At the time, a single occupant, the driver, was operating a white 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. The vehicle was traveling westbound along SH 107, specifically in the inside lane, west of North Sharp Road.
The Unfortunate Collision
Tragically, a pedestrian failed to yield the right of way and entered the path of the Mitsubishi. The driver was unable to avoid the collision, resulting in the pedestrian being struck. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the driver of the Mitsubishi immediately stopped to provide assistance and ensure the well-being of the injured individual.
Identifying the Victim
The victim has been identified as Jaime Medina, a 43-year-old resident of Edinburg. Despite the prompt response and efforts to save his life, Medina succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the incident.
