Florida Deputy Delivers Chick-fil-A Order After Drunk DoorDash Driver Arrested

A DoorDash driver on the way to deliver Chick-fil-A to a customer in Florida was pulled over and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. However, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office did not let the food go to waste and took it upon themselves to deliver the order to the customer.

According to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, they received reports of a possible drunk driver in the parking lot of a local Chick-fil-A restaurant. Witnesses claimed that the driver was “striking cones and almost hitting multiple vehicles in the drive-thru” just outside of Jacksonville.

Although the driver, identified as 57-year-old John Kaminski, had left the parking lot by the time the authorities arrived, they managed to stop him shortly afterward.

“Our deputy asked that Kaminski get out of his vehicle and observed him slurring his speech and stumbling while walking,” stated the sheriff’s office in a statement on Facebook.

After instructing Kaminski to perform field sobriety tests, the police concluded that he was unable to complete them. Consequently, Kaminski was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to the Nassau County Detention facility.

In addition to the DUI charge, Kaminski faced an additional charge of possessing a controlled substance. Authorities discovered prescription drugs, Alprazolam and Hydrocodone, in unapproved containers inside his car.

Delivery Just in Time for Breakfast

Sheriff’s deputy Dale Hutcherson stepped in to ensure that the Chick-fil-A order did not go to waste. Hutcherson took the bag from Kaminski’s car and personally delivered it to the customer who had placed the order, ensuring it arrived “just in time for breakfast,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The act of delivering the order garnered praise from residents and locals, who expressed their admiration in the comments section of the sheriff’s office Facebook post.

“I hope the deputy got a tip,” wrote one user. Another commented, “Servin’ up justice right before breakfast! Excellent!”

As of Tuesday, Kaminski was no longer in the custody of the sheriff’s office and had bonded out on Saturday. The case is currently pending before the Nassau County Court.

No attorney for Kaminski has been listed so far.
