A convenience store employee has been apprehended on felony charges after reportedly threatening a co-worker with a firearm last month. Brandon Jacob Roman, a 36-year-old resident of Lance Circle, turned himself in at the Garland County Detention Center on Friday. He now faces charges of aggravated assault and first-degree terroristic threatening, both of which carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison.

Roman, who has no prior criminal record, was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear before the Garland County District Court on February 2.

Incident Details

On December 14, the Hot Springs police received a call regarding an assault at the Circle K store located at 2975 Malvern Ave. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the alleged male victim, aged 42, as well as two witnesses—a 53-year-old female and a 38-year-old male—who were present during the incident.

According to the victim’s account, while he was working at the cash register, his co-worker, Roman, confronted him, inquiring about people talking behind his back. The victim admitted to being the one discussing Roman and an argument ensued between the two men.

Altercation Escalates

During the heated exchange, Roman challenged the victim to fight outside the store. They both proceeded to the front of the establishment, where the victim noticed Roman carrying a holstered firearm on his hip. Allegedly, Roman menacingly exclaimed, “I’ll shoot your (expletive)!”

Afterwards, Roman entered a vehicle, which began to drive away. As it departed, he allegedly pointed his handgun at the victim, further intensifying the confrontation.

Video Evidence Supports Allegations

HSPD Detective Shawn Woodall, assigned to the case, reviewed surveillance footage from the store, which included audio. The video clearly depicted Roman and the victim arguing outside the store, with Roman visibly carrying a holstered firearm on his right hip.

As the situation unfolded, Roman returned to the vehicle and occupied the front passenger seat. The video captured the continued verbal exchange between the two men, with the female driver leaning back. At this point, Roman allegedly made gestures suggesting he was reaching for his firearm and proceeded to aim it at the victim.

Although certain sections of the footage were deemed unclear, making it difficult to confirm whether the firearm was fully displayed, the victim can be heard stating, “he just pulled the gun on me.”

Witness Corroborates Victim’s Account

Shortly after the incident, a male witness, who had observed the altercation from the gas pumps, entered the store. He approached the victim and the female witness, confirming that he had witnessed the entire event, including Roman brandishing the firearm.

Legal Action Taken

Following a comprehensive investigation, authorities issued felony warrants for Roman’s arrest on both counts.
