In a tragic incident that occurred on December 15, 2023, a homeless individual named Lee H. Riley lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on Bussey Road in the Town of Onondaga. The suspect, identified as 55-year-old Jeffery Cleeton from Camillus, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the hit-and-run incident.

Following a thorough investigation conducted by the Onondaga County Sheriff Detectives, Cleeton was apprehended on December 18 for his alleged role in the fatal accident. The incident took place at approximately 1 p.m. in the vicinity of the 4000 block of Bussey Road.
The Sheriff’s Office detectives revealed that Cleeton was driving his pick-up truck when he collided with the victim. Shockingly, instead of stopping and rendering assistance, Cleeton fled the scene of the accident, leaving the victim in a ditch.
